Mumbai: Yashpal Sharma who has worked in many films but mostly known for his role in Oscar-Nominated film Lagaan has shared some insight details and strategy of Aamir khan to keep others from ‘women and Booze’.
In a recent interview, Yashpal revealed that Aamir ensured every cast member would engage in nightly card games, possibly as a way to keep everyone focused and away from distractions like women and alcohol. Yashpal also mentioned that Aamir continues to host reunions for the Lagaan cast every Diwali.
Speaking on the Friday Talkies YouTube channel, Yashpal shared his initial concerns when he was approached for the film, fearing that Aamir might be arrogant based on his past experiences with stars. “Some NSD graduates, for instance, also acted as if they were stars,” he said. “But Aamir proved to be a genuinely wonderful person.”
Aamir is a humble person
Reflecting on the film’s set in Bhuj, Yashpal described how Aamir would sit in the dirt and drink tea from a paper cup. He organized card games every evening, which he believed might have been a tactic to keep everyone united and steer clear of distractions. “The camaraderie and late-night sessions really bonded us,” Yashpal noted.
He added that the strong connections formed on set led to Aamir’s continued tradition of hosting card parties for the Lagaan cast every Diwali. “We used to enjoy golgappas together, watch movies, play cricket, and rehearse as a group. Aamir’s humility is evident in how he invites us to his home for these gatherings every year,” Yashpal said.
