Jamshedpur: On August 31, Tata USIL inaugurated two advanced sewerage pumping stations at Patel Nagar, Bhuiyadih and Jai Prabha Complex, Kadma, marking a major advancement in the city’s wastewater management infrastructure. The new facilities boast capacities of 500 Kiloliters per day (KLD) at Patel Nagar and 300 KLD and Jai Prabha Complex. These new sewerage systems are set to greatly improve the local community’s sanitation services.
The Patel Nagar SPS is designed to serve 350 residential and non-residential properties while the Jai Prabha Complex SPS will cater to 160 properties. Together, these installations are expected to extend sewerage service coverage to nearly 60% of the city’s area.
Looking ahead, The Tata Steel USIL plans to either integrate the remaining unserved areas into the centralized sewage treatment system or establish localized treatment facilities, such as package sewage treatment systems, for approximately 70% of the service area. For the remaining areas, mechanized sewage cleaning services will be introduced in the coming months.
