Mumbai: Shraddha Kapoor and Raj Kumar Rao’s horror comedy Stree 2 broke all the record becoming highest earning of 2024. The Amar Kaushik Directorial earned 16.5 crores on the 9th day. The movie has crossed 300 crore mark in a few days and is soon expected to touch 400 crores.
This movie has turned out to be the most successful film of the year as well as in Shraddha and Raj Kumar’s Career as well. The Film’s net domestic total stands at ₹308.15 crore.
On its ninth day, Stree 2 saw an overall occupancy of 26.73%, with most of its screenings concentrated in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, and Pune. In Mumbai, where the film had 1,091 shows, the occupancy was 29.75%. Delhi-NCR, with 1,152 shows, reported an occupancy of 31.25%. In Ahmedabad, the film was screened in 620 shows with an 18% occupancy, while in Pune, which had 430 shows, the occupancy was 25.75%.
For Shraddha Kapoor, Stree 2 is her highest-grossing film to date. Her previous top earner was Chhichhore (Rs 153.16 crore), followed by Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (Rs 147.28 crore), Saaho (Rs 145.67 crore), and the original Stree (Rs 129.83 crore). For Rajkummar Rao, Stree was his previous biggest hit before Stree 2, with a collection of Rs 129.83 crore in India.
The producers of Stree 2, Maddock Films, reported that the film had grossed Rs 428 crore worldwide within the first eight days. In India, the gross stands at Rs 363 crore, while it has earned Rs 64.5 crore overseas. Stree 2 is nearing the worldwide collection of Dunki, which made Rs 454 crore.
Released on Independence Day, Stree 2 faced competition from Vedaa and Khel Khel Mein. On its ninth day, Vedaa earned just Rs 22 lakh, and Khel Khel Mein, starring Akshay Kumar, collected Rs 62 lakh, according to Sacnilk. As the fifth film in Dinesh Vijan’s horror universe, Stree 2 also features Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, and includes a special appearance by Tamannaah Bhatia.
