Jamshedpur: The recent pager explosions in Lebanon have sparked intense discussions in Kerala, particularly concerning Rinson Jose, a Malayali businessman with Norwegian citizenship. International media reports indicate that his company was involved in financial transactions related to the purchase of the pagers linked to the incident.
According to the investigation, while Jose’s connection is under scrutiny, authorities stress that no direct evidence currently links him to the explosions. The origins of the explosives used remain unclear, raising further questions about the case.
Hailing from Mananthavady in Wayanad district, Rinson Jose has reportedly vanished since a series of strikes in Lebanon, during which pagers sourced through his company were allegedly used. Media reports suggest he is linked to a Bulgarian shell company that funneled £1.3 million to Cristiana Arcidiacono-Barsony, a British-educated intermediary, as part of a complex operation allegedly orchestrated by Mossad.
Jose moved to Oslo in 2015 after working in London for two years. On the day of the attacks, he reportedly left for a business trip and has since been unreachable.
The situation has gained traction online, with discussions proliferating across social media platforms in Kerala. The Bulgarian caretaker Prime Minister stated that Bulgaria was not involved in the manufacture or transit of the pagers used in the explosions, emphasizing that customs clearance was also not their responsibility.
In response to the unfolding situation, Kerala’s Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence), Manoj Abraham, stated that there is no official information confirming the reports about a Malayali’s involvement in the explosions. He noted that Kerala Intelligence will investigate further if credible information arises.
Wayanad Superintendent of Police, Taposh Basumatary, confirmed that a high-level meeting is currently addressing the international reports regarding Rinson Jose’s alleged connection to the explosions, promising to release official updates soon.
As the investigation continues, the matter remains sensitive and complex, with many in Kerala closely monitoring developments.
