In a world full of glitter and glamour, well-known influencer Kavya Karnatac recently shared her decision to refuse a ₹3.6 Lakh deal from the Ambani’s PR team. The offer was to promote Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding and highlight its potential boost to the Indian economy.
Kavya took to her LinkedIn profile to explain her decision: “My task? To discuss how Ambani’s wedding would boost the Indian economy. The offer far exceeded my usual rate of around 3 lakhs, and my parents even urged me to accept it. However, I decided to decline.”
She further elaborated, “I didn’t want to be part of an overwhelming crowd promoting the same narrative. It’s easy to get lost in the noise.”
Audience Trust, Ethical Concern, and Personal Integrity
Kavya expressed her concerns about the responsibilities that come with being an influencer. As an educator and creator, she felt that promoting such events could mislead her audience. She emphasized that her followers can differentiate between paid promotions and genuine content.
“While I’ve previously worked with Ambani, promoting Vantara, claiming that a wedding could positively impact the Indian economy might not be factually accurate,” she added.
She concluded by saying, “This was my personal decision. Saying no to such offers can be challenging, but I am at a stage in my career where I can make these choices.”
All the Glam and Glitter
Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding has been described as the wedding of the century. The extravagant event, from pre-wedding celebrations to inviting A-listers and global stars, made it the most expensive wedding globally, with an estimated cost of ₹5000 crore.
Kavya Karnatac, a social media influencer with 1.6 million followers on Instagram and 700,000 YouTube subscribers, is known for her videos showcasing India’s diverse culture.
Her decision to prioritize personal values and audience trust over monetary gain sets a significant example in the influencer community.
