India gets its first Miss Universal Petite Crown
Jamshedpur, July 19, 2024:
A small – town doctor from Kannadiga, Shruti Hedge won the Title of Miss Universal Petite crown on June 10, becoming the first person to bring such a title in India.
Miss Universal Petite is a pageant started in 2009 and is held for short and petite women who are dwarfed by others.
Shruti, who is also a doctor, used to work 36-hour shifts in hospital and then turned up for the training of the pageant. She Says, “Winning beauty pageant is every small-town girl’s dream, so i thought of giving it a try.”
She adds, during the contest she learned a lot of life lessons that would help her in future to stay kind and humble.
In 2019 Hedge was diagnosed with benign ovarian and uterine tumors and had to undergo surgery that ate up 2 years of her life. She thought that was the end of her pageantry career but with her mother’s support she came back strong.
Hedge re-encounters, “once she won a big title, the second runner up of Miss Asia International India 2023, her financial strains got relived for a bit as she started getting sponsored for her clothes and stuff.”
Currently Shruti is shooting for her upcoming film ‘janumadata’, which is based on tense relationship between father and son.
