New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) has introduced the Research Communication Awards for the its Phd scholars to enhance the communication skills. The initiative aims to foster better better engagement between researchers and general public, emphasizing the importance of effectively communicating complex research.
The inaugural batch of awardees was honored with certificates and cash prizes of ₹25,000 each for excelling in various research communication competitions, including the ‘Research Story Writing Competition’ and the ‘Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition’.
In the Research Story Writing Competition, PhD scholars were tasked with crafting a compelling narrative based on their research, aimed at a general audience. The objective was to highlight the significance of their work and their personal contributions. The eight winning stories can be explored on the official IIT Delhi website.
The 3MT competition required participants to succinctly present their research within three minutes, showcasing their discoveries and the broader implications of their work. A total of 11 students received the Research Communications Award for their outstanding presentations in this competition.
Earlier this year, in March, IIT Delhi hosted a ‘Research Scholar Week,’ which aimed to empower research scholars by promoting well-being, work-life balance, and enhanced productivity, while fostering a vibrant academic community.
IIT Delhi continues to innovate and support its scholars in becoming not only excellent researchers but also effective communicators, bridging the gap between academia and the public.
