Jamshedpur: On September 27, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced to install cameras in all examination hall for the upcoming class 10 and 12 board exams. With an estimated 44 lakh students expected to participate, this policy aims to ensure fair and transparent examination process.
The CBSE issued a directive on September 27, stating that any school without fixed CCTV cameras will not be eligible to serve as an examination venue. The installation of high-resolution cameras is required, focusing on capturing student actions and examination materials clearly. Schools are responsible for the costs associated with the installation and maintenance of these systems.
As part of the new regulations, recordings from the exam halls must be securely stored for at least two months after the results are declared, allowing for easy retrieval if the Board needs to conduct reviews. Access to the footage will be limited to authorized personnel only.
To facilitate smooth implementation, schools must provide clear communication to parents and students regarding the purpose of the CCTV policy and their rights during examinations. This information will be disseminated through orientation sessions, handbooks, and notice boards.
Additionally, each examination center will have a designated monitoring personnel responsible for overseeing the conduct of examsтАФone monitor for every ten rooms, or 240 students. Feedback mechanisms will be established to gather input from students, staff, and examination officials, helping to identify areas for improvement.
With these measures, CBSE aims to bolster the credibility of the examination process as it prepares to host one of the largest student cohorts in its history.
