Mumbai: Veteran actor Govinda shot himself by accident today early morning. The incident happened when Govinda was about to leave for the airport as he had a flight to catch for Kolkata.
Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, updated on the actor’s health and told about the incident. His manager stated, “The actor was getting ready and was about to leave for Kolkata. He was keeping his licensed revolver in the case when it fell from his hand and a bullet got fired, which hit him below the knee.”
“The doctor has removed the bullet, and he is in the hospital right now. It is by God’s grace he did not sustain serious injuries.” Sinha further stated. The actor’s wife is currently in Kolkata; she is returning back to Mumbai after getting the news.
Reports suggest the actor has been discharged from the hospital, and his daughter Tina is with him. No official statement has been released from the actor’s family, nor is it known why the actor was carrying the revolver.
On the work front, the actor was last seen on Dance Dewaane as a judge; after the show ended, he shifted his focus to politics. Earlier this year, in March, Govinda joined Shiv Sena and is seen participating in various Shiv Sena events. Govinda is known for his comic roles in movies like Coolie No. 1, Partner, Haseena Maan Jayegi, and more.
