Mumbai: In a devastating twist of events, the news of the passing of Farooq SheikhтАЩs widow, Rupa Jain has been confirmed. Shabana Azmi was very vocal about expressing her anguish over the demise.
Farooq Sheikh, one of IndiaтАЩs most respected actors and known for his outstanding performances, died in December 2013. Now, eleven years later, it is the turn of his beloved wife. Shabana Azmi, the close friend of the couple, broke the tragic news early morning on October 29.
Farooq and Rupa were my closest friends since college. Their was so deep that I hardly ever saw Rupa happy again after Farooq died so suddenly. But she really dedicated herself, even as she was managing the grief of losing such a significant partner, raising the two daughters.
She never forgot the pain of losing her husband, and friends said she was waiting for the day when she would meet Farooq. This love story started in St XavierтАЩs College, Mumbai, as they were into theater. They had a nine-year courtship period and then got married. The couple had two daughters, Sana and Shaista, whom they brought up.
Farooq Sheikh died of a heart attack at the age of 65 in Dubai. He was buried in a Muslim cemetery in Four Bungalows, Andheri West, close to his motherтАЩs grave. RupaтАЩs death marked the end of an era and will be remembered for her strength and the love she shared with Farooq.
The film fraternity will also pay tribute to this heavy loss by saluting the precious legacy of Farooq and Rupa.
