Jamshedpur: Diwali is around the corner, where we would be celebrating the festive of joy and lights, and our soldiers would be at the border protecting us. But that does not stop them from celebrating the festival of lights.
Every year the soldiers posted on borders light up diyas in the middle of a barbed wire fence. On Dhanteras, the soldiers performed Laxmi Puja on the LoC and also burst crackers. They might be miles away from home, but they call the army their another big family away from home.
It is the season of festivals. From home to market, from lane to road, everything is buzzing. It is bright. There is an atmosphere of celebration. There is joy. All this is because someone is keeping a watch on the border all the time.
Whether it is the bone-chilling cold of Siachen or the LoC or the LAC, our brave soldiers are deployed all the time. Their Diwali is there, their Holi is there, their Eid is there, and their every festival is there. They are keeping an eye on the LoC all the time to prevent terrorist infiltration. They also keep an eye on Pakistan not doing any mischief on the border. They are also alert to ensure that China’s PLA does not dare to do anything on the LAC.
We are able to celebrate festivals in our homes because there is someone who is guarding the border far away from his family, away from his children, away from his loved ones. He is awake so that we can sleep peacefully. He is sacrificing so that we can live peacefully and celebrate festivals.
Let us light a special diya this Diwali in honor of these brave soldiers. Treat it as your duty. Celebrate a lot. Be happy with a lot of joy. Amidst all this, we must remember that if we are celebrating today, there is someone’s sacrifice behind it. Someone is posted on the border, far away from his loved ones, so that we can celebrate among our loved ones.
