Kolkata : The rape and murder case of the trainee doctor in R.G. Kar Medical college has shook the Nation. The doctors are continuously protesting for Justice. The then Principal, Sandip Ghosh was transferred to Calcutta National Medical College by the West Bengal Government overnight.
In a new turn of series, The West Bengal Medical Council has removed Sandip GhoshтАЩs name from itтАЩs registry on September 19, banning him from practicing medicine. The decision was taken after he failed to respond to a show-cause notice issued on September 6.
The council stated, тАЬIn light of the lack of any explanation even after 13 days,тАЭ and subsequently acted under sections 25(a)(II) of the Bengal Medical Act, 1914, and 37(III) of the Code of Medical Ethics. As a result, Ghosh, an Orthopediac surgeon with an MS from PGIMER Chandigarh, is now ineligible to practice medicine.
Ghosh was arrested by the CBI on September 2, over allegation of financial misconduct. He was later taken into custody on September 14 in connection with the rape and murder case. He is alleged to have delayed the filing of the FIR by 14 hours and mishandling crucial evidence.
